Welcome to Grenada

Where the good life is greater

A place of sun, sandy beaches and the world’s best blues. A region where a Nobel laureate changed literature forever, and K-12 schools are still “breaking the mold” in innovative learning. Greater Grenada is a place where the good life is greater, and where you’ll find all the options and opportunities to realize your greatest dreams.

Dream houses, resort destinations right here at home

With a cost of living just 78.9% of the U.S. average, and home prices only 52% of U.S. average, Grenada residents enjoy roomier budgets for all the things they want in life—much of which they find right here in Grenada, the retail and healthcare hub for the Greater Grenada region. Shop, dine and play, right here at the home at Grenada Lake, the state’s largest lake and one of the majestic Tri Lakes, three blue-water jewels ringed by hundreds of miles of scenic beaches and surrounded by hundreds of acres of verdant state park lands. Life is always refreshing in this recreational paradise where families and residents of all ages enjoy hiking, hunting, camping, fishing, birding and water sports. At Hugh White State Park, cast your line for crappie (or bass or bream) or tee off on the driving ranges and 18 tree-lined holes at the Dogwoods Golf Course.

Learning of a lifetime

Grenada’s excellent K-12 schools turn out career and college-ready graduates with success that has earned state and national recognition. Named as a Business Week “Break the Mold” school system, Grenada is also one of only five designated “District of Innovation” schools in the state, selected for unique achievements such as the Learning Blocks program for pre-K students and Project Lead the Way, which guides students toward career paths in biomedicine, robotics and computer science. The Grenada system also offers dual credit/dual enrollment at Holmes Community College (HCC), allowing 11th and 12th graders to attend HCC either on campus in Grenada or online. And with 7 universities and 14 community colleges within a 100-mile radius, ease and access to lifelong learning is assured.

Those universities also provide something else to cheer: Fun and games all year round with the exciting SEC (Southeastern Conference) action of the Mississippi State University Bulldogs and the Ole Miss Rebels, and the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) prowess of the Memphis State Tigers.

An arts and cultural capital

The Greater Grenada region is home to nearly a dozen markers on the Mississippi Blues Trail and host to a year-round schedule of crowd-pleasing festivals celebrating arts, music and film. Just an hour north of Grenada, Oxford offers all the “write stuff,” including museums, historic homes and a landmark town square where live music and luscious dining beckon. At his elegant home Rowan Oak, now open to the public, William Faulkner wrote his Nobel-prize winning masterpieces, while at Sweet Tea recording studios, artists like Elvis Costello, Buddy Guy, the Walkmen, and Jars of Clay made their mark. Just an hour east of Grenada, more immersive experiences await in Cleveland, home of Delta State University. Explore Dockery Plantation, where the blues took root with Charley Patton, the legendary “father of the Delta blues.” Get in the groove with the high-tech exhibits of the Recording Academy Grammy Museum Mississippi (the first of its kind in the nation), or at lively and authentic local blues venues like Po’ Monkey’s. Or take in a national quality stage show at the Bologna Performing Arts Center. The very best of American culture is yours to sample and savor in this region.

Living bigger, learning better, realizing your dreams. In the Greater Grenada region, the good life is greater every day.
