Grenada Partnership Purchases Former Regions Bank Building to Serve as Economic Development Hub
08/06/2025

The Greater Grenada Partnership (GGP) has officially acquired the former Regions Bank facility in downtown Grenada, marking a bold and visionary step toward supporting the area’s accelerating economic growth. Regions Bank is expected to vacate the premises by the end of September 2025. The64,000-square-foot building will undergo a complete transformation, emerging as a vibrant multi-use center designed to power Grenada’s next era of commerce, entrepreneurship, and industrial advancement.
Once renovated, the building will be unveiled as “2000 Gateway” — a name symbolizing Grenada’s forward momentum and strategic position between Memphis and Jackson. All existing Regions Bank branding will be removed, and the building will prominently feature the Greater Grenada Partnership (GGP) logo as a beacon of economic progress and community growth.
The redeveloped facility will be home to the Greater Grenada Partnership, the Grenada Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Grenada Tourism Commission. In addition to housing the community’s key economic development entities, the facility will include space for:
- Workforce development training and off-site industrial meetings
- Business incubation and small business leasing opportunities
- Entrepreneurial ventures, including a proposed coffee shop or café
- Event and meeting room rentals for public and private use
“This is more than just a real estate deal — this is about the future of Grenada,” said Matthew Harrison, CEO, President, and Executive Director of the Greater Grenada Partnership, Chamber, and GGFED. “We are investing in a central hub that will serve our growing business base, help train tomorrow’s workforce, and give entrepreneurs and established companies alike a space to grow and thrive.”
With major industrial announcements in recent months — including new employers bringing hundreds of jobs to the area — the need for a central business and development hub has never been greater. The remodeled Regions Bank building will ensure Grenada remains competitive with other forward-thinking communities across the state and region.
"Other communities have established thriving spaces like this — Columbus has its Communiversity, and larger metros have innovation districts," Harrison continued. "Grenada needs and deserves the same. This facility gives us a competitive edge, a place to showcase our assets, train our workforce, and welcome new opportunities." Keith Mitchell, Guaranty Bank’s Chief Banking Officer and Chairman of the Greater Grenada Foundation for Economic Development, echoed that sentiment:
“This investment is a strategic and necessary step in positioning Grenada for long-term success. ‘2000 Gateway’ will serve as both a launchpad and a landing zone — a place where current industrial wins are supported and future wins are made possible. From workforce training to recruitment efforts, this facility helps us close the gap between opportunity and readiness.”
The building’s redesigned layout will feature:
- Up to 10 furnished suites and 30 private offices for lease.
- Conference rooms, including a 250-seat atrium and 80-seat training center.
- A dedicated hospitality welcome center.
- An inviting coffee shop or café space for meetings, students, and business travelers alike.
The project is designed to promote a broad spectrum of commerce, from startup incubators to established industries hosting off-site meetings or training. Local businesses will also be able to rent event spaces for public-facing activities and private functions, ensuring the building becomes a true community asset.
“This is Grenada’s moment,” Harrison said. “We have the momentum. We have the industry. And now we’re building the infrastructure that helps us sustain it — and win even more.”
